Welcome to Early Years
Early Years at Field Lane provides the ideal environment, care and academic provision for our young pupils to embark upon a successful school experience where high expectations are instilled from the beginning.
We aim for all pupils in EYFS at Field Lane to be provided with the opportunities and experiences to thrive in all areas of our curriculum.
Staff are skilled at identifying the next steps pupils need to progress.
The pupils are happy, confident and engaged in their learning. Every effort is made to nurture our pupil’s well-being and children are supported to flourish.
In Early Years, we value the importance of play. Through well-planned free flow provision, student led and adult facilitated experiences, students can inquire, explore and discover.
Teaching and learning is planned to meet the needs and interests of our pupils. Provocation activities ignite interest, creativity and independent thought. Pupils access both the indoor and outdoor provision, providing excellent opportunities to learn, foster relationships and develop communication skills.
Pupil’s learning is observed and assessed through a well-planned curriculum, centred around the 7 areas of learning and development, which is delivered through whole-class teaching, adult-led activities and child-initiated play.
At Field Lane Primary School, we believe whole heartedly in supporting the development of the whole pupil, placing emphasis not only on academic success but also on each pupil’s personal development. Keeping our pupils safe and supporting their mental health and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.
Personal development underpins the fundamentals of every pupil’s emotion, sense of self, confidence and ability to make positive relationships and life choices.
Our curriculum centres around pupil’s developing an understanding of how to keep both their physical and mental health well.
Our school MIRROR values support with all aspects of personal development and provide a secure platform from which pupils can achieve at school and in later life.
We know that the key to strong development in EYFS is through positive relationships with all stake holders. Relationships with parents and carers are established before pupils enter our setting, through robust induction and communication.
Parents and carers play a vital role in ensuring their child feels secure, safe, and happy and that their abilities and talents are being nurtured.
At Field Lane, we offer many opportunities to foster working partnerships with all parents and carers to ensure that all pupils have the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.
In Early Years we value the importance of play and students are able to inquire, explore and discover within different areas both indoors and outdoors by doing free flow, student led and adult facilitated experiences.
We know pupils learn and develop to and beyond their potential through enabling environments. Our 3 to 5-year-olds benefit from state-of-the-art Early Years classrooms, carefully designed to create a love of learning and inspire curiosity, both indoors and outdoors. From the moment children enter the EYFS at Field Lane, they are exposed to invigorating and exciting learning environments and experiences.
